Paracas kite surfari adventures into the Reserve

After the severe lack of wind in Cape Hatteras I was ready for some good kite surfing conditions and Paracas did not disappoint! In the month I was there I thing we had a bout 3 non kite-able days and average wind around 18 knots! With a plethora of spots to explore from flat water to open ocean there was plenty of kite surfing fun to be had!

This first post on Paracas contains an assortment of pictures from a few kite surfaries into the Paracas Reserva.

First stop on the reserve tour - The Cathedral

Whilst named the Cathedral for a now collapsed archway that connected the rocks of this picture to the main land, the sheer size of the features remain impressive.

Kite Spot - Kiting Las Salinas!

Kite spot - Laguna Grande

Deep in the reserve we reached Laguna Grande. An abundance of flat water an open ocean space to kite, set to a magnificent backdrop.

Broken town

Rebuilding amoungst the remains of a town along the shores of Lagnua Grande, devastated by the tsunami or 2007.

Kite spot - Playon

A fabled wave spot however lacking in swell on this ocassion. At least we had wind!

Cape Hatteras at Sundown

Cape Hatteras is such a stunning place and sundown is certainly no different, some of the most spectacular sunsets I’ve had the pleasure of, the pictures don’t do it justice!

In and around Cape Hatteras

This post should have been all about the amazing kite spots in and around Cape Hatteras, instead due to the severe lack of wind plans changed! Instead my sister and I spent a few days driving around aimlessly taking random pictures of stuff, we found some pretty bizarre things that reminded us this was definitely the good old USA!

Aside from the lack of wind, the place is stunningly beautiful and , with numerous flat water and open ocean wave spots to choose from, you could clearly see this place is an awesome kitesurfing destination and so it remains a spot to cross off the list, I will be back for sure!!!!

Welcome to town!

The most popular activity in Cape Hatteras

Yep we saw more fishing poles than people on this trip! Tall ones, short ones, medium ones, neon ones and then cars with their bull custom bars modified to carry them, you name it they had it, Cape Hatteras is certainly fishing mad!

THE LIGHT STATION

Yes that what they call a light house in the US!

The Space Ship

There was even a real life alien that greeted us, unfortunately he refused to be photographed!
